Stars Shine at the 2010 Salute the Stars Awards Luncheon
More than 900 guests turned out for the 2010 John Lynch Salute the Stars awards luncheon, presented by the Sports Authority. The event was held at INVESCO Field, on Thursday, May 13th, but was moved inside due to the weather. The student-athletes who were recognized at this event were impressive and inspiring.
As the more than sixty student-athletes were introduced by legendary announcer, Joe Buck, they entered the event through the Broncos tunnel to a standing ovation. The student-athletes honored at Salute the Stars all show proven successes in academic, athletics and community involvement.
The guests listened to motivating words from keynote speaker, Broncos Head Coach Josh McDaniels who congratulated the student-athletes and not only provided an inspiring message, but also a little insight into the Broncos upcoming football season.
John also enlisted the help of Colorado Avalanche Team Captain, Adam Foote, to assist him in presenting an award to Exceptional Star of the Year recipient, Kyle Severson, who excels in sled hockey, which is an adaptive form of ice hockey.

Teacher / Coach of the Year Award - Cheryl Duey, Laredo Middle School
Teacher / Coach of the Year Award - Ed Woytek, Columbine High School
Teacher / Coach of the Year Award - Frank DeAngelis, Columbine High School
Lynch Family Legacy Scholarship - Margo Berends, Cherokee Trail High School
Lynch Family Legacy Scholarship - Paige Wilson, Thomas Jefferson High School
Lynch Family Legacy Scholarship - Kelsey Koentges, Golden High School
Lynch Family Legacy Scholarship - Cameron Delphia, Heritage High School
Exceptional Star of the Year Award - Brendan Balmes, Golden High School
Exceptional Star of the Year Award - Kyle Severson, Cherry Creek High School
